“If you only have one rum factory tour this is the one” - Beautiful grounds, interesting history, Great brochures with lots of info and a wonderful black and white film from when Barbados was the only country making rum. Owner on site and was very willing to discuss all aspects of factory today and yesterday. Unfortunately, the factory wasn't running, but we walked all around the grounds. I couldn't figure out why they made molasses when they could just ferment the sugar as it came in. Spoke with someone who was very helpful and said the molasses will keep for months so the distillery can run well after the sugar cane has been harvested. As other reviews have said, the rum is quite good (non blended too :) and can make an excellent souvenir.

“lovely place to visit” - My husband and I visited St Nicholas Abbey with no real knowledge of what to expect and what a wonderful place it is. It is an old plantation house that has been restored beautifully plus some of the outbuildings that have been converted. They distill and bottle high-quality rum there, so as expected there is rum tasting too!! There is a fabulous film from the 1930s that was found by a previous owner which shows not only life on the plantation but also a bit of how life was in Barbados in those days. We had a wonderful tour guide called Maureen who was hilarious and very informative. The current owners were on site and seem very hands-on. There is a lovely terrace where you can have a nice lunch and the gift shop, although small, was full of high-quality items including many locally produced goods. It was a lovely place to visit for a couple of hours and was peaceful and cool and the gardens/grounds were stunning too. Well worth taking a few hours out of your day to visit.

“Beautiful grounds and very welcoming” - the drive alone is beautiful, once on the grounds, you are able to walk around at your own leisure and take in the garden, tour the house and the rum factory. The owner is very friendly and enjoys a visit. We had a great time here and would highly recommend checking it out. I had been to Barbados 4 times before checking this place out and wish I had done it sooner! I will definitely be back.

“A must visit” - Every year we go to Barbados we visit St. Nicholas Abbey. You will not be disappointed. We first met Simon the owners son some years ago before he was married. We found him helpful and charming. We love going to the charity event they hold at Christmas in the gardens with the Police Choir. The house is well worth going round and the rum can be bought in beautiful bottles etched with your name on or anyone else's for a special gift
